• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A review of staff files found that one staff file did not have evidence of a criminal record check. This is a repeat contravention.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Inspection of the Group Child Care (School Age Care on School Grounds) room found that one of the walls had a large strip of drywall missing just above the molding near the floor. There was also a large circular hole in the drywall located at the level where a rocking chair arm meets the wall. Staff noted that a work order has already been submitted to the School District and they are awaiting a response.

  Corrective action. Ensure the facility is in good repair while children are in attendance

  Observation. A review of 2 staff files that hold an educator licenses found that both files were missing evidence of verification through the ECE registry.

  Observation. A review of 4 children's files found that 1 file was missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A review of the facility staff checklist revealed that 2 staff did not have a criminal record checks done through the Criminal Records Review program. 1 file indicated a Criminal record check through the local police department and the 2nd file did not indicate any CRC had been completed. The Manager indicated that the CRC(s) had been initiated through the CRC review program but had not been returned for both staff.

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff have had a criminal record check done through the Criminal Records Review Program on file at the facility.
