  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Electrical cord in Jr Toddler nap room was hanging over sleeping cot and accesible to children. This poses a choking hazard - Sofa in Daycare 2 program in poor repair, making it unable to be sanitized effectively.

  Observation. Upon inspection there was Lysol cleaning detergent accessible to the children

  Observation. Upon inspection Licensing found: -a toilet tank cover to be cracked in the children's washroom -bathroom wall was dirty -exposed gyprock in the classroom with residue that came off on fingers when touched (this is a repeat contravention)

  Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Upon inspection: -there was a large glass vase and heavy wood rounds on top of the cubbies, that posed a fall hazard in the event of an earthquake. -t.v on a shelf that rocked when bumped that posed a fall hazard -blind cords accessible to children -a ripped children's couch -ripped change pad

  Observation. Upon inspection, there was exposed gyprock in the under 36 months room that was accessible to the children.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair.

  Observation. Upon inspection there were 2 plastic bins accessible to the children outside, that had sharp broken areas sticking out that posed a scratch hazard.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that outdoor materials are free from hazards.

  Observation. Medication was not readily accessible to employees.

  Corrective action. Please ensure medication has not expired while child is in care.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Upon asking to inspect the emergency supplies, the metal bin was locked and rusted through.The Manager said that she did not have the key to unlock it but was able to produce the extra food and water.

  Corrective action. Please ensure emergency supplies are easily accessible and in good repair.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Upon inspecting the attendance records, one classroom did not have any children 's arrival times documented. Staff said that they write it down during circle time.

  Corrective action. Please ensure arrival times are documented at the time that the children are present

  Observation. Upon reviewing the children's files, the file did not contain a picture of the child.

  Corrective action. Please ensure staff records are complete.

  Observation. Upon reviewing the attendance records, 6 departure times had not been recorded for the past 2 months.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the arrival and departure times are recorded

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

  Observation. An epi pen is at the facility for a child although there is no care plan and no permission to administer it. The manager stated the family had not returned the care plan form.

  Corrective action. A current care plan and permission to administer medication must be at the facility when the child starts to attend.

  Observation. An ECE certificate had not been validated.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all ECE certificates are validated.

  Observation. A file for a volunteer was reviewed. References for this person had not been verified.

  Corrective action. Please ensure references are verified for all volunteers.

  Observation. Criminal record checks for staff have expired and a criminal record check for a volunteer has not been obtained through the sharing program of the CRC Agency.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff have a current criminal record check on file and that if a criminal record check is from another facility it is obtained through the CRC sharing program.

  Corrective action. The windex was removed during this inspection.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Hot water at one sink was measured at 52.6c.

  Corrective action. Please make sure hot water accessible to children is no more than 49c. The hot water was turned off during this inspection.

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (c) the resources to be made available to the child requiring extra support by the licensee, including (i) any adaptation of the community care facility necessary to ensure the child's safety or comfort. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A care plan for one child states the child requires an epi pen. The manager stated she has asked the family for the epi pen but they have not brought it.

  Corrective action. The child will not attend the facility until the epi is at the facility.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Time in and out was reviewed for 2 months in all programs. Entries were missing on several days in all programs.

  Corrective action. Staff will complete the time in and out sheets if parents forget to do this.
