  Observation. Licensing observed that children are using the same hand towel in the bathroom throughout the day.

  Observation. Licensing observed the food and water in the dedicated emergency supply kit was expired

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Upon inspection the door knob on the washroom was very loose.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the fixtures are in good repair.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Upon review of the attendance sheets, the school age children did not have departure times recorded for when they left for school or arrival times of when they were back in the childcare facility.Licensee said that she has never recorded the transfer of care arrival or departure times to or from school.

  Corrective action. Please ensure daily attendance records are complete.

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

  Observation. Medication was not readily accessible to employees.

  Corrective action. Please ensure medication listed in the care plan is readily accessible to employees.

  The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Files for 5 children were reviewed. A care plan was not available for one child.

  Corrective action. Please make sure a care plan is available for all children who require extra support.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A family member over the age of 12 does not have a criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Please make sure everyone over the age of 12 has a valid criminal record check.
