A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Fire drills were not recorded for November and December 2025. The staff said the fire drill for November was completed but not recorded.

Corrective action. The manager will ensure that fire drills are completed and recorded

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files· Criminal record check for the Manager expired in October 2024 and one staff's expired in August 2024. Manager was unaware that CRC were due for renewal.

Corrective action. Manager said Criminal record checks will be renewed and a copy of the results will be kept in files.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

Observation. The Manager's ECE certificate expired in December 2024. The Manager applied for renewal in November 2024 but has not yet received the renewed certificate. Licensing discussed the exemption process.

Corrective action. Manager will apply for an exemption.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection licensing observed 5 rabbit fecal pellets outside the rabbit cage. Staff quickly removed it during inspection. This is repeat violation from inspection #LVIA-CKTREE dated 3 Nov 2022.

Corrective action. Please ensure that there is a system in place to contain rabbit feces inside the rabbit enclosure.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. During a review of the fire drill records, fire drills were not practiced for month of December 2023 & January 2024.This is repeat violation from inspection #LVIA-CKTREE dated 3 Nov 2022. Manager said that they had a fire drill scheduled for this month. Licencing officer reviewed this schedule.

Corrective action. Please ensure fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was: -rabbit excrement beside the rabbit cage accessible to the children -gardening/bulb feed accessible to the children

Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have any access to anything that may be hazardous to their health.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Upon review of the fire drill records, September's drill was not conducted or recorded.

Corrective action. Please ensure records are kept current respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c)

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. Please ensure staff files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Upon review of the staff records, there was one staff certificate that was not verified by the system maintained by the early childhood registry.

Corrective action. Please ensure the staff files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Upon inspection, 2 staff did not have their certificates validated by the Early Childhood Registry.

Corrective action. Please ensure that the staff files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. A valid criminal record check was not available for one staff person. The manager stated it had been approved but was not at the facility.

Corrective action. Please ensure a valid criminal record check is available at the facility for all staff.

Without limiting subsection (2), if the duties of an employee include care for a child who requires extra support, a licensee must ensure that the employee has the training and experience and demonstrates the skills necessary to care for that child.

Observation. Evidence of training and experience was not available for a staff person providing care to a child who requires extra support.

Corrective action. Please ensure evidence of training and experience for any staff providing care to a child requiring extra support is available.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Evidence of reference checks being verified was not available for one staff person.

Corrective action. Please ensure all references are verified before a person starts to work at the facility.
