- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Observed during the inspection: -One wall had multiple areas with exposed drywall mud, total area was aproximately 1 meter X 3 meters. Licensee stated these were the same areas that were mentioned in her inspection from last year and could not provide any timeline of when they planned to complete the repairs. (REPEAT CONTRAVENTION) -The railing leading down the stairs to the entry door of the facility was loose -A hole in the ceiling measuring approximately 15 cm X 45cm was present with yellow discoloration around the edges. Licensee stated this hole has been present from quite some time and was from a leak from the dishwasher from the floor above, and did not provide a plan of when this was going to be repaired
Corrective action. Ensure all areas of the facility are in good repair and clean.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Matches were presented as part of the emergency kit, which was stored at a level accessible to children. Licensee moved these matches to a higher level, out of children's reach. A small tub of drywall putty and a drywall putty spreader were stored in the shower of the bathroom which the children use.
Corrective action. Ensure all items that may be hazardous to children are not accessible.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. There was no evidence of sufficient emergency supplies provided (supplies shown were very limited). Licensee stated she has not stocked food or water for her emergency supplies. (REPEAT CONTRAVENTION)
Corrective action. Ensure sufficient emergency supplies are kept on hand to assist in case of an emergency.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Observed many large stains throughout the carpet in the main playarea, drywall damage, peeling paint visibly dirty walls , doors, fixtures. Discussed reasonable time frame to address the cleanliness of the physical facility ( indoors )
Corrective action. please ensure that the facility and fixtures within it are maintained in good repair and cleaned regularly.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. observed outdoor stairs leading to the upper sliding doors which have had the railings removed there is no means of restricting access to the stairs. Of concern is that the children could fall onto the concrete surface below resulting in injury. Discussed solutions to ensure the area remains inaccessible to children.
Corrective action. please provide your response outlining the steps taken to prevent access from the stairs.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. Observed record of fire drills noting month of June was not conducted
Corrective action. please ensure fire drills are held and recorded monthly
12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. Observed some emergency supplies in place however no food or water. the licensee confirmed that an annual review of the emergency plan had not taken place. It is noted that this is a repeated contravention from the previous inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure a system is developed to practice / review the emergency plan annually in order to mitigate risk to children in case of an emergency.
12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c)

- STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation. At the time of this inspection the fire extinguisher equipment was noted as needing to be checked. Fire extinguishers should be checked yearly.
Corrective action. Ensure all equipment utilized for emergencies is checked to ensure effectiveness.
12180 - CCLR s.22(2)(a) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. At the time of this inspection authorization for a criminal record clearance is needed for one individual over the age of 12 living in the home. Licensee advised she will attend the Licensing office next week to complete the authorization for criminal record clearance.
Corrective action. Ensure criminal record clearances are completed and current for each person living in the home over the age of 12 years.
12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. At the time of this inspection three of the criminal record clearance letters had expired. Licensee has informed that she will attend the Licensing office next week to complete the authorizations for criminal record clearances for renewal. Criminal record clearances will need to be renewed every 5 years.
Corrective action. Ensure current criminal record clearance letters are on file for all individuals living in the home over the age of twelve.
