The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. 3 care plans were last signed > 1 year ago.

Corrective action. The manager explained that she will ask these children's parents to review, sign, & date the care plans during pick-up today, or if the child is away, as soon as they return to the facility.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the followings: - Twenty-four nap cots in the 30 month to school age program were stacked on top of each other to a height of 4.5 feet and stored in the main play area, which is accessible to children. This poses a potential hazard

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

Observation. During discussions with the Manager, it was noted that educators, in under 36 months program, have not conducted the emergency plan drill at least annually.

Corrective action. The Manager said she will ensure emergency plan is practiced annually.

Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: -An outdoor kitchen abutted the fence. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CP3RSL. A step drop off to a stairwell was located on the other side of the fence. -The landscape fabric in the play area was showing. This could cause a potential tripping hazard. -A playground check was not completed for the day prior to the children entering the play area.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a system in place to regularly monitor the outdoor play area to ensure a healthy and safe environment.

A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed multiple items partially blocking the emergency exit.

Corrective action. Please ensure to store items that are partially blocking exits to ensure a safe evacuation in case of emergency.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Licensing observed plastic bags for diapers at the children's level and 2 loose plastic bags in the staff washroom

Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing observed 3 staff certificates were not posted.

Corrective action. Please ensure a system is in place to replace or post certificates when staffing changes are made.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. The children's records were reviewed. Many records were missing photos. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CP3RSL

Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete

Observation. In discussion with staff they stated they did not complete an annual emergency plan

Corrective action. Please ensure to complete the emergency plan on an annual basis and to document the date of completion.

Observation. A criminal record check is not current (expired) for the Manager.

Corrective action. Please ensure to complete criminal record checks prior to the expiry date.

Observation. Through observations it was determined that flammable materials were placed directly in front of the heaters. In addition, a heater located on a window sill was not secured which may result in a potential injury

Corrective action. Corrective action plan to be submitted

Observation. Through interviews and a discussion with Staff it was determined that a shelf that was identified by staff to the Manager as requiring anchoring and was not anchored in the facility resulted in a minor incident to a child.

Corrective action. Corrective action plan submitted

Observation. During the inspection the following was observed in the classroom: -A bottle of bleach and water was within easy reach of the children. This was not corrected by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention. -Doors to the mechanical room were easy to open. A lock was observed but not applied. This was not corrected by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention. Licensing reviewed the importance of having a daily system in place to check for hazards. -A heater in the washroom was hot to the touch. Licensing measured the temperature on the surface of the heater. The temperature was over 100 degrees Celsius. This was corrected during the inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are harmful to their health and safety.

Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -Doors to the mechanical room and custodian room were unlocked and accessible. Various cleaning chemicals and bags of ice melt were observed on the floor and within easy reach of the children -The kitchen door was open. A bottle of bleach and several bottles of cleaner were under the sink. -Staff bags were accessible in the kitchen and the children's cubby area. These could present a potential hazard. -Two bottles of bleach and water were within easy reach in the room for children 0-36 months. -Laundry detergent was located on the washroom floor
