A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: a. Change mat in the bathroom is ripped b. 3 shelves located in the main play room are taller than 3 ft. and are not secured.

Corrective action. Supervisor stated the following: a. Supervisor will replace the change mat b. Supervisor will secure shelves

A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (b) constructed in a manner, and using materials, that are suitable for the age and development of the children intended to use it.

Observation. LIcensing noted there was not enough sand in the sandbox

Corrective action. Supervisor stated she will connect with the licensee and replenish the sand

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher was not serviced annually

Corrective action. Supervisor stated she will get the fire extinguisher serviced

A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

Observation. Licensing reviewed 9 children's files and the following was noted: a. 2 files were missing enrolement date b. 2 files were missing an emergency contact c. 1 file was missing the name and phone number of a doctor d. 1 file was missing an MSP number

Corrective action. Supervisor stated she will review the files and connect with the families that have missing information and ask them to update the file so that it is complete and up to date.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, Licensing found diaper creams with din #'s accessible to children in the bathroom.

Corrective action. The Manager moved these during the inspection.

Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, licensing observed mats were raised, posing a tripping hazard.

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed an individual watering the yard and a criminal record check was not obtained.

Corrective action. The Manager explained that this individual lives at this location and will follow up with the owner.

Observation. In the covered area outdoors, licensing observed the floor mats were raised up at a few places in the middle of the play space raising a potential tripping hazard.

Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 children's files of which 1 was missing date of enrolment

Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete and up to date

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files of which 1 was missing validation.

Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are complete and up to date

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files of which 2 were missing work history

Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are complete and up to date
