- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed cloth towels were used for children's drying hands but not on a single use base. This was a REPEAT CONTRAVENTION from report number JKIM - D59M46
Corrective action. The General Supervisor said she will obtain paper towels for children to dry hands and it will be on single use base.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed one regular staff's certificate was not displayed in a prominent place.
Corrective action. The General Supervisor said she will post the staff's certificate.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed fire extinguisher was not serviced annually and the arrow was pointing at the red zone.
Corrective action. The General Supervisor said she will ask the Director to purchased a new one.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. In discussion with the staff indicated emergency drill was practiced but not recorded.
Corrective action. The Staff said she will ensure to record down the date when emergency drill is practiced.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Four staff files were reviewed, two staffs were missing character reference.
Corrective action. The General Supervisor said she will obtain character references from the staffs.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: Each child uses a cotton towel assigned to them to dry their hands. These towels are washed once a week.
Corrective action. Ensure that children are provided with single used paper towels/cotton towels.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Manager's name was no posted onsite.
Corrective action. Ensure that the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place within the facility.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. LO discussed the following with the Manager: Ordinarily present person over the age of 12 must have CRC clearance letters. 2 people ordinarily present, residing within the premises had no CRC onsite.
Corrective action. Ensure that CRC is obtained for any person ordinarily present on the premises.
