A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. 6 children files were reviewed of which 2 were missing an immunization record

Corrective action. Licensee will follow up with families to ensure files are up to date and complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. 6 children's files were reviewed of which 3 were missing an enrolment date

Corrective action. Licensee will review all files to ensure they are complete and up to date.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. During an inspection of the outdoor play area, dog feces were observed on the ground. The Manager said that she usually makes sure that the outdoor play area is cleaned prior to opening, but this was not done today.

Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the attendance records and on a few days in February, one child was not signed out and on March 1, 2024 all of the children were not signed out.

Corrective action. The licensee said she will ensure that children are signed in/out every day.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. the fence in the back yard is in poor repair, the licensee has stated they have requested repairs be conducted but the landlord has not complied.

Corrective action. please ensure the fence is repaired before using it again

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. fire drills not documented for every month

Corrective action. Licensee has stated that fire drill are conducted monthly but documentation not available to support

A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 children's files of which the following was found: - 2 files missing the sex of the child - 2 files missing an MSP number - 4 files missing immunization records - 4 files missing date of enrolment - 1 file missing parent contact information - 2 files missing emergency contact information - 1 file missing the phone number of a medical practitioner Licensee informed licensing that 2 childrens files were completly missing.

Corrective action. Please enusre children's files are complete and up to date. Please enusre that you have a file with all relevent information for each child on site at all times.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the daily attendance record and there was no record available for review after June 2021

Corrective action. Please ensure that you keep for each child, a daily attendance record indicating for each day whether teh child is absent, or present and the time of arrival and departure.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 childrens files of which all were missing a photograph or digital image of the child.

Corrective action. Please enusre you keep for each child a photograph or digital image.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

Observation. Licensing noted there was no written record of a yearly emergency plan being implemented.

Corrective action. Please ensure, once a year, the emergency plan is practiced.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. Licensing reviewed fire drill records, there was no written record of any fire drills conducted from July 2021 till March 2022

Corrective action. Please ensure that fire drills are practiced once a month and recorded.

A licensee must (b) provide to employees and parents a written statement of the licensee's policy on behavioural guidance.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the facilities Policies and procedures. Behaviour Guidance Policy was missing

Corrective action. Please develop a behaviour guidance policy and share with families.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Licensee informed licensing that fire drills are conducted monthly however, there is no written record of the drills

Corrective action. Please ensure that you are documenting when you are conducting fire drills

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 children's files of which 1 child was missing a photograph or digital image of the child

Corrective action. Please ensure all children in care have a photograph or digital image of the child

A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 children's files of which 1 was missing medical consent from the parent

Corrective action. Please ensure all children in care have consent from parents/ guardians to call a medical pracitioner or ambulance in case of accidnet or illness if parent cannot immediately be reached.

A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 children's files, of which the following were missing: - 3 start dates - 3 emergency contacts - 2 genders - 2 immunization records -1 Dr. name and phone number

Corrective action. Please ensure you have a system in place to review and update children's files so that they are complete

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing saw multiple areas within the main floor where gyproc and metal bracing is exposed making these areas non cleanable (porous) and unsafe for children. The areas included but are not limited to: main entry, kitchen, cubbies etc.

Corrective action. These areas will need to be repaired and sealed (painted). The Licensee said she has applied with her strata corporation to have the work done and is awaiting a response. The Licensee is requested to submit a written plan of action, including time lines as to when the work will be finished, to the Licensing Officer by May 11, 2020.

A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation. In discussion with the Licensee it was determined that there is a child attending who is over 12 years of age. The Community Care and Assisted Living Act defines a child as "a person under the age of 13 years".

Corrective action. Licensing discussed options as to how the Licensee could comply with this requirement including applying for a temporary retention.

Subject to subsections (2) and (3), a licensee must not provide care for more than 13 hours each day to each child.

Observation. The Licensee informed the Licensing Officer that there are children in care who attend more than 13 hours per day.

Corrective action. Licensing discussed with the Licensee various ways to address this requirement including applying for an exemption.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed a wooden cabinet just under 5 feet tall near the cubby area. The cabinet was not secured and the concern is that it will tip if pushed by a child. Children will not be in that area for the remainder of the day.

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times while children are in care.

Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observation. Licensing confirmed children's ages by reviewing registration forms and identified that there were 5 children under the age of 4 years old in December 2019 and January 2020. For a Family Child Care service type, there can be no more than 4 children under the age of 4 years old if no child is present who is under 12 months .The facility is now in compliance.

Corrective action. Please ensure compliance with ages as per Schedule E of the CCLR.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

Observation. Licensing reviewed policies and procedures and observed that the Screen Use Policy has not been developed.

Corrective action. Please develop a Screen Use policy and share with parents.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Licensing reviewed facility records and observed that there was no record of attendance from Monday and Tuesday. In addition, children were not signed in today. This is considered a repeat contravention as it was identified at the last routine inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure the attendance record is maintained.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

Observation. The licensee's criminal record check has expired. The licensee completed the online application during nap time and Licensing observed record of payment.

Corrective action. Please ensure criminal record checks are renewed every 5 years.
