    Observation. During an inspection of the outdoor play area, dog feces were observed on the ground. The Manager said that she usually makes sure that the outdoor play area is cleaned prior to opening, but this was not done today.

    Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the attendance records and on a few days in February, one child was not signed out and on March 1, 2024 all of the children were not signed out.

    Corrective action. The licensee said she will ensure that children are signed in/out every day.

    Corrective action. Please enusre children's files are complete and up to date. Please enusre that you have a file with all relevent information for each child on site at all times.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing saw multiple areas within the main floor where gyproc and metal bracing is exposed making these areas non cleanable (porous) and unsafe for children. The areas included but are not limited to: main entry, kitchen, cubbies etc.

    Corrective action. These areas will need to be repaired and sealed (painted). The Licensee said she has applied with her strata corporation to have the work done and is awaiting a response. The Licensee is requested to submit a written plan of action, including time lines as to when the work will be finished, to the Licensing Officer by May 11, 2020.

    Observation. In discussion with the Licensee it was determined that there is a child attending who is over 12 years of age. The Community Care and Assisted Living Act defines a child as "a person under the age of 13 years".

    Corrective action. Licensing discussed options as to how the Licensee could comply with this requirement including applying for a temporary retention.

    Observation. Licensing observed a wooden cabinet just under 5 feet tall near the cubby area. The cabinet was not secured and the concern is that it will tip if pushed by a child. Children will not be in that area for the remainder of the day.

    Observation. Licensing confirmed children's ages by reviewing registration forms and identified that there were 5 children under the age of 4 years old in December 2019 and January 2020. For a Family Child Care service type, there can be no more than 4 children under the age of 4 years old if no child is present who is under 12 months .The facility is now in compliance.

    Corrective action. Please ensure compliance with ages as per Schedule E of the CCLR.
