A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Mold patch was observed on the bathroom ceiling above the bathtub area that children have no access to. Manager explained that there was water leakage roughly about 2 months ago
Corrective action. Manager said that she will hire a contractor to fix that and to ensure there is no water leakage or other areas affected by the mold

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Children's beds and bedding in the nap room were touching. To mitigate the risk of infection children beds and bedding must be stored separately.
Corrective action. The manger will ensure beds and bedding are for each child are kept separately.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. A draw knob on the bathroom cabinet is missing exposing a sharp piece of metal.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure that the metal on the cabinet is not exposed.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Lysol toilet cleaner was accessible to the children in the bathroom and bleach and other cleaning products were accessible to the children under the kitchen sink.
Corrective action. The manager made these items inaccessible to children during the inspection.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A child was alone in the play room without supervision. The manager was aware that the child was in the room although she had back to the door and was not supervising the child.
Corrective action. The manager stated that children will not be left in the facility without supervision.
14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. An Infant Toddler Educator has not been present at the facility two days of the week and from 5pm to 5:30pm on a daily basis since November 2024.
Corrective action. An Infant Toddler Educator must be present during all operating hours of the facility.
14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (c) the resources to be made available to the child requiring extra support by the licensee, including (i) any adaptation of the community care facility necessary to ensure the child's safety or comfort.
Observation. Medication required in a child's care plan had expired.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure the child's medication has a current expiry date.
19230 - CCLR s.58(1)(c)(i) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. A care plan for one child was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure the care plan is reviewed and updated as necessary.

Observation. Four staff files were reviewed. Evidence of references being checked was not available for one staff.
Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure all references are checked and evidence of this available.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Files for four staff were reviewed. A criminal record check for one staff was not available.
Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure a valid criminal record check is available for all staff working at the facility.
