A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Two children's beddings were touching each other in the nap room. This is a repeat contravention to inspection #WBET-D4EN6P.
Corrective action. Manager will ensure that children's beddings are not touching to prevent the spread of communicable disease
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. - [CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION] Seven children were present during inspection, and three of them were not signed in. - One child arrived during inspection and that child was not signed in. This is a repeat contravention to the inspection #WBET-D4EN6P.
Corrective action. Manager will ensure to keep a current record of children's arrival time.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Files for eight children were reviewed. Contact information for an emergency contact was not available for five files. Within those five files, three of them had listed parents as the emergency contact. This is a repeat contravention to inspection #WBET-DFENZQ.
Corrective action. Manager will ensure that all the children's files are completed.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Four staff files were reviewed, and certificate validation was missing for one of the staff
Corrective action. Manager will ensure that all the staff files are completed
12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. During inspection, an elderly man was present in the backyard. Although he was not in the children's playground area, and the entire backyard is enclosed, the children's play area was not fenced off or separated from the rest of the non playground area. Upon discussion with the staff, he is the Director's parent, and he sometimes will come down to water his plants. A criminal record check for that person was not available.
Corrective action. Manager will ensure that any person above the age of 12 who is ordinarily present will have a record of criminal record check.
12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. Four staff files were reviewed and one of the staff had a first aid certification that was completed fully on-line which does not meet the requirements of Schedule C.
Corrective action. Manager will ensure that a first aid certification that meets the requirements of Schedule C is obtained. Until that is obtained, the staff will not be left alone with the children.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Areas are drywall are accessible to children throughout the facility.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure that all areas of exposed drywall are repaired.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. A care plan is not available for a child requiring extra support.
Corrective action. The manger will ensure a care plan is at the facility for the child requiring extra support.

Corrective action. The manager will ensure beds are separate.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. A mouse trap was observed behind the toilet in the children's bathroom and disposable floor wipes were accessible to children in a bathroom draw.
Corrective action. The staff person said they will remove these items.
