    Observation. During routine inspection three staff files were reviewed. The following was observed in regards with the CRC: - one staff's CRC expired recently and it was not site specific - a sticky note was observed on the staff file that stated that the staff had applied for a new CRC. No evidence of application of new CRC was viewed at the time of the inspection

    Corrective action. Ensure CRC is site specific and valid.

    Observation. During routine inspection licensing reviewed 3 staff files and observed the following: - one staff's ECE certificate was renewed and the new validation of the new ECE certificate was not present. An old validation of the ECE certificate (2023) was present in staff file but since then the staff has renewed their certificate.

    Corrective action. Ensure ECE certificates are validated.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the routine inspection the outdoor space was reviewed and it was noted that three holes bigger than 3.5 inches and as large as 6 inches and 9 inches were present on the side of the fence. These holes pose a risk of potential entrapment. Staff on site mentioned that the children like to dig on the side of the fence and they have dug a trench. The staff said that the place where the children dig is filled out with dirt. At today's inspection the side of the fence was not filled with dirt or wood chips.

    Corrective action. Please ensure you provide a healthy and safe environment at all times.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

    Observation. During the routine inspection the policies and procedures of the facilities were reviewed. It was noted that an Active Play and Screen Time Policy was missing. The staff on site said that the facility does not use screen time and the licensing officer observed children on the playground engaged in active play. However, a Screen Time and Active Play Policy must be present.

    Corrective action. Please ensure an Active Play and Screen Time Policy is present in the facilities policies and in the parent's handbook.

    Observation. The nap space for children under 36 months had various items stored in the room preventing safe use of space when napping.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed one high chair was visibly soiled. Staff said that the manager was planning to replace the high chair.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the designated nap room was being used as a storage space. The licensee indicated that the nap room is a shared space between the facility and the church. Licensing suggested coming up with a plan to share the space in a way that does not impede the requirement of having a nap space available.
