• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed that in three rooms the cupboards were not locked and hazardous materials i.e plastic paper bags were being stored.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the cupboards remain locked at all times.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

  Observation. Toddler room fire drill log was not maintained and up to date.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the fire drill log is maintained on a monthly basis.

• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed that one of the medications was expired thus medication stored on site is inaccessible to children.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the medication administering procedures are current. Expired or discontinued medication should be returned and or discarded.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Licensing observed that sign out was not documented for some children in the 3-5 classroom.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the attendance records are maintained with sign in and sign out.

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. Licensee could not demonstrate annual review of the emergency plan.

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff are familiar with emergency procedures and implement a review of the emergency plan annually
