    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed parts of the walls in the downstairs room of the facility had some paint chipped and the dry wall was showing.

    Corrective action. Licensee said that she is planning on fixing the walls as soon as possible.

    Observation. There wee no written directions specified by the parent regarding the administration of medication.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the amount and the times of administering medication are specified on the medication administration form.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 children's records and noted 2 did not contain the date of enrolment at the facility.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. The hot water in the bathroom sink in the play area downstairs that children use to wash their hands was recorded at 53.6 *C. The LO discussed with the Licensee the requirement for the temperature to not exceed 49 *C.

    Corrective action. Ensure heated water accessible to children does not exceed 49 * C.

    A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.

    Observation. The lunch kits for the children in care are stored on the counter in the kitchen area. Some items were stored in lunch kits that are perishable and the ice pack had melted.

    Corrective action. Ensure healthy eating habits are promoted including the appropriate storage of perishable food items. Corrected during inspection by storing perishable food in fridge and replacing the ice pack.

    Observation. Observed a hose extending across the upper outdoor stairs posing a tripping hazard A large plastic slide placed indoors , noted lack of clearance around the slide for safe use.

    Corrective action. please ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Designated nap area not longer in use as it is currently used to store furniture and exercise equipment while waiting to sell. Reviewed expectation that the nap space as approved on the stamped floor plans must remain available for children's use.

    Corrective action. Ensure children are provided with a separate nap area away from the activity area.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A spray bottle of bleach was placed on the edge of the bathtub , once brought forward as a safety concern the licensee placed it on a higher shelf within the tub.

    Corrective action. ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and or safety.

    Observation. Children are provided with small hand towels which are hanging on hooks , the hand towels are in close proximity to each other and are touching. the licensee also hangs a larger towel for her own use in the washroom accessible to children. Discussed ensuring health and hygiene practices are implemented to promote children's health and wellness.

    Corrective action. Ensure a system is developed which promotes children's health.
