A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): -A plug in air freshener was accessible to children in the play area. The licensee removed this after discussing with licensing. -A gap in the corner of the outdoor play area at the bottom of the fence. The licensee placed a cone there for today until a longer term solution to address this will be completed.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Cable for music player next to where children sleep in the nap room was unsecured posing entanglement risk.

Corrective action. Licensee removed the cable during the inspection.

If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

Observation. Medication consent form for emergency medication had not been completed. Care plan details were in place.

Corrective action. Licensee will obtain a form signed by the parent for administering medication this evening.

Observation. -Two areas of the fenced outdoor play space had gaps that posed an entrapment risk. -The inside office door was ajar during the inspection where loose cables and other hazards were accessible to children walking the bathroom nearby.(This was corrected when licensing noted the door was ajar).

Corrective action. Licensee will consider a plan to address the gaps in the fence, and then provide a written response for when this will be corrected.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the diaper change station has some visible soil. The bleach bottle for cleaning the station had not yet been filled for the day, and was empty.

Corrective action. Licensee filled the bleach bottle during the inspection, and wiped the change table down while licensing was on site.

A licensee must ensure that children are not (c) left unsupervised while consuming food or drink. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the licensee leave a child under 36 months unsupervised while consuming an uncut mini carrot during snack time. Once licensing pointed out the concern, the licensee came to the table, and maintained supervision at the table until the child had completed eating.

Corrective action. Licensee said the plan will be to wait until snack is over before starting diaper changes moving forward.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

Observation. Staff file was unavailable for review at the time of the inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure that files for all staff are available for each employee.
