    Observation. Licensing observed a loveseat, and other items were stored in the hallway, and in the nap room there were storage of toys and equipment.

    Corrective action. Licensee said they were working on organizing the nap room, and will have that completed today.

    Observation. Licensing was unable to review children's records today due to the them being unavailable because the records have been misplaced during renovations in the home. The licensee has previously requested parents bring new registration records in. The licensee has the parent contact information, and MSP numbers stored in their phone.

    Corrective action. Licensee will have the records on site by the next day.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the storage of a folding chair, an office chair, and some plantars in the play area. Licensee said she was closed for some time and had not yet removed them from the space. This was completed during the inspection. -One ride on toy in the outdoor area was cracked. Licensee removed this from the space during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure to create a system for regularly checking outdoor toys and equipment for repair or replacement in addition to the regular daily checks. The licensee said she will be including checking toys and equipment for hazards as part of her daily, monthly, and yearly outdoor checks.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed: -couch in nap room was visibly soiled, and the vinyl cover was cracked preventing the ability to sanitize effectively. Licensee said the children rarely sit on the couch and would cover it from the room. -The bathroom vanity drawers contained multiple items such as; toothbrush, toothpaste, and a small battery. Licensee removed the items. (This was corrected during inspection.) -One corner ledge in the back play room contained a large amount of materials in one corner. The licensee said this was from moving a couch, and would address it today.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair, while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing reviewed 5 facility files, of these, contents missing included: -2 children's files had no start date -1 children's file was missing Medical Service Card number (corrected during inspection) -1 children's file did not have the date of birth (corrected during inspection) -1 children's file contained no record of immunization -1 children's file was missing consent for emergency medical attention One child was starting their first day of care. Licensee said some of the items on their file were missing because the parent the required some help to complete, and the licensee would help them at the end of the day.

    Corrective action. Please keep current records for each child showing the information set out in subsection 2(b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Faucet in the bathroom was tested at 51.7 degrees Celsius. Licensee corrected this at the time of inspection. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 40 degrees Celsius.

    Observation. Water temperature was recorded at 53.7 celsius in the sink children use to wash hands.

    Observation. -Plastic recycle bags in the bathroom drawer, a garbage bag in the outdoor play space, and plastic shopping bags under the sink in the main classroom were accessible to children. - A garbage can in the outdoor play space was half full of water, with a floor lamp tipped over on the edge of the garbage can, giving access to the bin of water. The lamp was broken, and the electrical chord was accessible to children. -The outside stairway to the upstairs deck were accessible. The gate at the top of the stairs appeared broken. Items such as cleaning supplies were accessible from the stairs. -A large gas powered pressure washer was accessible to children in the outdoor play space.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of children.

    A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

    Observation. The enclosed outdoor fence on one side of play area had a gap between the shrub and the fence area, giving access to children, and could pose possible entrapment of a child.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the play area is enclosed to ensure that children are free from harm.
