Seven Colours Daycare

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. -Outside area: three nails sticking out of a board next to the bunny hutch, and two screws were sticking out of boards in other areas. -Indoor area: -Two bifold doors had not been secured with a latch to prevent children pinching their fingers. -One shelf had not been secured to wall. .

Corrective action. The licensee said they will address these items and provide a written response.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed in the outdoor areas: -Vines with thistles were growing into the outdoor space in several areas where children play. -A broken flower plantar in the play area with sharp edges.

Corrective action. Licensee will consider a plan and provide a written response.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Emergency contact who sometimes picks up a child from care had not been documented in the child's record.

Corrective action. Licensee will connect with the parent an obtain the record for the file

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. During review of the outdoor play space licensing observed: -gaps at the stairs, and in one corner of the fenced area which were greater than 3.5 inches, accessible to children and pose an entrapment concern. -Storage of long wood boards which were unsecured and leaning on the edge of the fence, a plantar with long wires which pose an entanglement concern, and a large counter top which appears to be disintegrating, all were accessible to children.

Corrective action. The licensee said they will clear the storage items this weekend, and will provide a plan for addressing the gaps on or before May 3, 2024

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

Observation. Two employee files were reviewed, and both employees current first aid certification, however they did not meet the requirement of 3.5 hours of in person training.

Corrective action. The licensee provided a plan to correct this as of April 27th, 2024.
