A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Cubbies had not been anchored to the wall, and were on wheels, located on a slope providing a concern with tipping.

Corrective action. Licensee will attach them to the wall today.

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

Observation. Two of 4 persons who are ordinarily present, had expired criminal record checks.

Corrective action. Licensee will submit for the criminal record checks today.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): -High chair was visibly soiled. Licensee said they are going this weekend to replace this, and moved it to another room. -One container where soiled cleaning rags after use are stored, was overflowing, located near where infants are playing, without lids. Licensee moved this out of reach of children.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection licensing observed two high chairs with visual soil build up in some areas, and were in need of cleaning or replacement. Licensing had identified this as a contravention on the past inspection. Two drawers accessible to children had items that are a choking concern for children. The licensee removed the high chairs, and toys identified, and the licensee latched the drawers accessible to children during inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure to establish a system for maintaining a healthy and safe environment at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Observation. Licensee observed that the outdoor play area had three fenced spots where the fencing was cracked, or bent providing risk for entrapment. Licensee had places some fence pieces in those areas, however they were not effectively reducing risk of entrapment for children. There is no established checklist for reviewing and checking the outdoor play area. Licensee said they are completing a daily check however it is not documented.

Corrective action. Please ensure to establish a system to ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials accessible to children are safely constructed and free from hazard.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Two electrical outlets had plug covers that were not engaged, and one outlet was covered by tape. Licensee pulled out new plug covers and replaced the ineffective plug covers during inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have acess to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Licensing observed: -two high chairs, one inside and one outside which were visibly soiled. (one high chair was cleaned while licensing was on site) -Bathroom toilet visibly soiled (corrected during inspection) -Inside wall in three areas had exposed drywall. Licensee stated they had identified the areas needing to be repaired and painted, and was planning to complete those this weekend.

Corrective action. Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it area clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

Observation. Manager records were unavailable to review at the time of inspection. Licensing provided education that a multi age facility must have a staff file for the Licensee on site.

Corrective action. Please ensure to develop a staff file for Licensee who is the manager.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 4 children's records were reviewed. One record was missing the immunization information. This was corrected during the inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure to keep record showing the immunization status for each child

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Licensing observed chipped paint through out the care facility.

Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility and the fixtures within it are in good repair.
