    Observation. One staff who travels between the facilities did not have her file with documents on her or at the facility.Staff was able to print all the required documents and create the file.

    Corrective action. (Corrected During Inspection) All the staff files should be kept in the single place or available for licensing.

    Observation. The food i.e crackers and the cans of beans in the emergency supplies kit had expired.

    Corrective action. Ensure that there is system in place to check the expiry of the food.

    Observation. There were no paper files for licensing to see for children enrolled in Preschool. The children's records were not available in a single place as some information was stored on the Sandbox system and some on the laptop.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all the records referred to in sections 56 to 58 are kept in a single place and are available for the licensing to check. Provide in your written response your plan for having records accessible to licensing in single place.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

    Observation. There were no paper files for children enrolled in Preschool. Some information required by licensing was available on the Sandbox system and other information was available on the laptop. It was discussed that all the information should be available to licensing in single place. Out of three files checked for Preschool children the Immunization records were not available either on Sandbox system or on the laptop.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all the records including the immunization status is maintained for each child.

    Observation. Out of 5 staff files checked one of the staff had an expired CRC included in their file.

    Corrective action. Ensure a system is developed to maintain CRC clearance and relevant documentation for staff screening. Provide in your written response your plan while waiting for the CRC to arrive.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

    Observation. Out of two files checked for Preschool staff the ECE Certificate was not verified. One staff was able to show the validation on their phone and print it to be included in their file.

    Corrective action. Please ensure system of screening is complete for staff to include the verification process as established by the director of the ECE registry and included in the staff files.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The program operates from 2 classrooms within the school , 1 of the rooms is showing signs of wear and tear for example - cabinet surfaces are peeling , floors are stained, wall damage exposed drywall at exterior exit door.

    Corrective action. please ensure that the facility is maintained in good repair.Please provide your plan included within the correction date to address these areas.It is acknowledged that the work would likely commence during hours of school closure.
