  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. Name of manager was not posted in a prominent place.

  Corrective action. Manager said she will post her name as manager.

• STAFFING

  To qualify for employment in a community care facility as a responsible adult, a person must (c) have completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition.

  Observation. Through discussion with the staff and manager it was determined that the staff providing care in the School Age program has not completed a course of at least 20 hours duration in child development, health and safety, or nutrition.

  Corrective action. Manager will file an exemption for the staff to work in the role of a Responsible Adult until the required 20 hours of education is complete.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

  Observation. Date of Enrollment is missing on the registrations forms for each child. This is a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Ensure record is maintained showing date of enrollment for each child.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Upon review of staff files two certificates were not validated by the system maintained by the early childhood registry..

  Corrective action. Please ensure that an educator or assistant certificates are validated by the system maintained by the early childhood registry.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed children's records and noticed the date of enrollment was missing on the records.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's records contain all the required information, including the date of enrollment.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. Upon review of the staff files one of the staff did not have her first aid certificate included in the file.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the staff has the first aid certificate in the case the staff is working alone and that children have access to an employee who hold a valid first aid certificate.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.   Observation. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensee holds a valid ECE Certificate however the validation of the certificate had expired. The validation was completed during the inspection and included in the staff file

  Corrective action. Ensure system is in place to renew the validation of the certificates.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. One of the five staff files reviewed did not have a CRC included in the file.

  Corrective action. Ensure the CRC is obtained prior to the employment start date.
