  • C9.1 - Are there plans and actions in place to ensure medications are stored and administered properly?Non-critical

Observation. One child was disclosed to have an inhaler in their backpack. The child's backpack was hung on the hooks among all of the other children's bags by the door. Medication must be kept in a manner that is inaccessible to all children to ensure the health and safety of children in care. During the inspection the manager moved the child's backpack on top of a higher shelf that is inaccessible to the children. The contravention was corrected during inspection, no further action is required. One child had an inhaler at the facility that did not have any corresponding documentation to support administering the medication on file. Any medication that may be administered at the facility requires permission from the parent/guardian as well as evidence the manager has agreed to administer the medication. A response is required by November 24, 2025 to confirm the medication documentation has been completed and is on file as required.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. It was disclosed that one child who requires an inhaler does not have a care plan in place. A care plan is required for any child requiring extra support or additional medical needs to ensure the health and safety of the child while in care. A response is required by November 24, 2025 to confirm the care plan has been developed as required.

  • C5.1 - Are healthy eating and nutritional habits promoted and practiced?Non-critical

Observation. The facility provides snack to the children on occasion but does not have a way to inform parents of what was given. It is required that information must be made available to parents regarding food and drink given to children while in care. During the inspection the manager wrote the daily snack on the white board beside the entry/exit door for parents to see. The manager confirmed that when food and drink are provided the information would be posted as such going forward. The contravention was corrected during inspection, no further action is required.
