The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. Licencing observed that the wood steps leading to the portable have started to rot and deteriorate. The manager was aware and stated they will be replaced in November. A quote for the replacement has already been obtained. For now, children are using the ramp instead.

  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Safe Play Space Standard of PracticeNon-critical

Ground Surfacing: The depth of loose fill material (protective surfacing) meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of the Standard of Practice. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. Loose fill material depth measured 5" under the 6 feet high fire pole platform on the red playground, which is insufficient for the fall height. The manager stated she was aware the Fibar depth was insufficient and reached out to the principal in September to request a top off.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING / Notification of illness or injuryNon-critical

Licensing is notified within 24 hours after a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H or has a reportable communicable disease. [CCLR Sec.55(2)(a)(b)]

Observation. Licensing reviewed the minor incident log book and noted two separate incidents of missing wandering children, one in December 2021 and one in April 2022. Neither incident was reported to licencing. A discussion was held with the new manager to educate the staff team regarding incident reporting to ensure incidents are submitted to licensing within 24 hours moving forward.

The new manager has applied to be an authorized person with the criminal record review board and once approved by the board can apply for the criminal records. This staff was also missing an immunization record.

I cancelled Spring Break program registration and send cancellation email to the asked email. Clara director of TOOSCS still insists to charge saying they did not receive the form. Clara writes belittling emails to me. I have been patient aa my child goes there but unreasonableness got worse. Most teachers are nice and friendly but bad communications from management. Older kids have no programs not treated well, generally disconnect with the kids, not allowed to play with the toy and pretty much nothing to do but left to fend for themselves.

My kids have been going to TOOSCS since Kindergarten; they love it! The staff are caring and kind, the activities are fun, and they get extra time to play with their friends after school! Also, the camps are a lifesaver for working families!

Staff are terrific, and although there is a wait list, they offer a great service with easy transition to and from school at Trafalgar.
