The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. The suite is a purpose built family child care unit situated within a housing co-op. The physical environment continues to show wear and tear and its age. The following repairs were noted as requiring attention during the May 2022 routine inspection. Timelines have been extended to allow for more time for the repairs to take place. See timelines below. In addition discussed options for securing the sliding bifold doors. The previous locking mechanisms were not working so the Licensee took them off. They have not been replaced.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES / Emergency Training and EquipmentNon-critical

There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

Observation. Reviewed the contents of the emergency supplies. Licensee confirmed what we observed, that the water and food has expired. Licensee stated she was aware prior to this inspection and had plans to replace those items. CCFL will forward a list of suppliers at the Licensee's request.

While the Licensee conducts thorough daily inspections (e.g. Licensee showed us a container for picking up needles), the practice of writing them down has lapsed. Licensee committed to return to keeping a log of playground inspections.
