Observation. LO observed that the locks on half doors separating the activity area from other areas of the program are faulty and at times do not lock properly or do not lock at all.

Observation. Licensing observed an Educator wipe a child's bottom, and then help another child with using a toilet without washing their hands in between. Licensing spoke to this Educator about this practice. Licensing observed an Educator while wearing one set of gloves, pick up a piece of food from the floor / placed it into the garbage, touch a child's face, touch another child's head / hair, place bibs on children and open children's lunch containers. Licensing observed an Educator using one of the children's sinks to wash their hands after helping children with their toileting. No cleaning / disinfecting of the sink occurred after the Educator had used it. These observations were provided to the Manager during the inspection.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: * employee cubbies unlocked and accessible to children (considering that employees may have medication or products contained in their bags, as discussed, access to these cubbies are to be restricted * a pair of adult scissors were observed stored in a contained at the corner of a counter accessible to children (Infant) * a loose cord was observed in a nap room (Infant) (Because the children in this room, sleep in cribs, they are not able to access the cord however, it is important to make sure that all cords are secured.) * a monitor and its cord are accessible in a nap room (Toddler)

Observation. Licensing observed written a recent incident where a Toddler child experienced an unwitnessed fall which resulted in a bleeding nose. The entry is documented as happening at 10:20 am and the parent was notified of the injury at pick-up time.

Observation. During the inspection, LO's observed that the entry spaces on the Toddler climber have been made inaccessible to children. The following was observed: -stairs are blocked off with the placement of two foam mats which poses a potential risk of tripping if a child were to attempt using the climber -the step ladder opening specifically around the upper steps on the climber is blocked off with a foam mat. In addition, there is a string tied to each side rail and across the foam mat. It appears that children only have access to the bottom three steps of the climber which poses a potential risk of entrapment for a child.

Observation. In the Infant classroom, LO observed that the children's washroom gate does not latch properly. Staff advised that a work order has been placed to have the gate repaired. In addition, discussion took place with manager with regards to the children's vinyl tumbling mats and the foam climb and crawl play mats in the main activity area appear to be in satisfactory condition and will require attention over time.

Observation. Infant yard The infant yard is overall in satisfactory condition but requires attention to three significant hazards. The wood rounds on the west side of the sand box - one is loose, all are slippery and rotting - must be replaced. Pest box in the northwest corner is accessible to the children. It must be moved. The wood surrounding the blue poured in place area on the east side is slippery to stand and climb on. Must be pressure washed. Toddler yard The toddler yard is overall in satisfactory condition. There are a few spots to monitor for wear and hazards. One of the large stump at the entry to the ramp going up to the deck is starting to show movement. Deck seating is starting to chip. Some of the wood elements are showing signs of water damage but no serious concerns yet.
