  The community care facility is operated in a manner that promotes the health, safety, dignity of the children in care. [CCALA Sec. 7(1)(b) Standards to be Maintained]

  Observation. Comments from previous inspection: Licensing observed children strapped continuously into low wooden chairs during snack time, an art activity, and then waiting during the transition to outdoor time. This does not support the health and dignity of the children in care. A conversation took place with staff re. removing the children from chairs promptly. During today's inspection the children were outside and LO did not have an opportunity to observe children sitting in chairs. A follow up inspection will take place.

  Observation. Comments from previous inspection: LOs observed that one staff does not have a current criminal record check on file. During today's inspection the staff informed LO that she has a CRC in progress.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. LOs observed the following: • electronic cord attached to a music player in the nap room was accessible by children through crib gaps - a staff removed it during inspection. • nap room's black out fabric on the window was secured by push pins - the push pins are accessible to children. A staff removed the pins during inspection. • a power socket connected to a monitor was located under the sensory wall material in the main play room. The socket was sticking out of the wall, posing a hazard to children. • the furnace room door off of the main play room was not locked. • a tall shelf was not secured to the wall in the 2nd activity room • the staff washroom was accessible to children Outdoors: • a wooden sandbox with a sharp exposed corner, posing a risk to children.
