• RECORDS AND REPORTING / Care PlansNon-critical

  The licensee does not keep a current care plan for each child requiring extra support. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)] ; Care plans are not reviewed at least once a year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent. [CCLR Sec. 58(2)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed care plans for four children with life threatening allergies and observed that several plans were incomplete or contained outdated information. The following was observed: -2 out of 4 care plans did not indicate an expiry date for the prescribed Epipen -2 out of 4 care plans listed Epipen expiry dates that were expired All 4 care plans were last reviewed in 2024, and there was no evidence of an annual review with parents. Licensing Officer discussed with the Manager the importance of reviewing each care plan with the parent at least annually to ensure the information remains accurate and reflects the child’s current needs in the event of a health emergency.

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed a sampling of children’s records and observed that immunization status documentation for each child was not available for review.

  The licensee has written parental consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness, in cases where the parent cannot immediately be reached. [CCLR Sec. 57(3)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed a sampling of children’s records and observed there was no evidence of written parental consent to contact a medical practitioner or ambulance in the event of an accident or illness for each child. This documentation was not available for review.

• STAFFING / Character and Skill RequirementsNon-critical

  Criminal record checks have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed the Child Care Staff List and observed that 17 out of the 18 criminal record checks documented for staff on the checklist have expired.

  Observation. LO observed that children's records are kept via the Boys and Girls Club electronic data system. LO reviewed a random sampling via tablet, however was not able to view evidence of immunization status for each child. LO to provide children's immunization information form as a resource.
