    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. Staff were observed sanitizing activity tables using a bleach and water solution. Staff indicated they were not aware of the two-step cleaning method. The facility had previously implemented the two-step cleaning and sanitizing procedure. During the inspection, a soap and water solution for cleaning was not available. Licensing will provide a cleaning and sanitizing resource.

    The emergency plan is not practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(c)] ; Fire drills are not practiced at least once each month. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)]

    Observation. Licensing observed no documented fire drills for the School Age program on the facility's fire drill record sheet for 2026. Staff stated that they had not conducted fire drills or an emergency plan practice and were not aware of this requirement.

    Staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and the emergency plan, including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(a)]

    Observation. During the inspection, Licensing observed that not all staff were able to provide information regarding the location of emergency supplies. In addition, staff were not aware of the requirements for monthly fire drills and annual emergency plan practices for the School Age program. Licensing located a container of emergency supplies; however, the available food was expired, and no water was available.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the emergency preparedness supplies and found that the food and water provisions are insufficient to support staff and children during an emergency.

    Observation. Attendance records did not accurately document each child’s daily attendance. A discussion was held with staff regarding the requirement to maintain accurate daily attendance records for every child.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed fire drill records and found no documented fire drill practices for February and March 2025. The staff were unable to provide evidence that the drills were practiced.

Licensing observed some staff records in the programs office but was informed that additional records may be in storage. Licensing will require a current child care staff list to assess ongoing compliance.
