Observation. *CCFL observed a child height rolling cart in the snack area and a second one in the fishbowl area that contained disinfectant in a spray bottle. (Red side) *A crib in the nap room was observed to be pushed up directly under a window. This provides children with possible access to the blind chain which has loosened and created a loop with enough slack to entrap a child. *The fire extinguishers were due for service on July 15, 2022.
- PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Safe Play Space Standard of PracticeNon-critical
Ground Surfacing: The depth of loose fill material (protective surfacing) meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of the Standard of Practice. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

- CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION / Safe Play Space Standard of PracticeNon-critical
Supervision of Play Spaces: Staff are able to move through and see the entire play space. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space].
Observation. *A discussion was held with the Manager in regards to the "tunnel" structure that extends from the first to the second level of the outdoor play area. Adequate supervision of this area is a challenge if the Educator is on the upper side of the tunnel and needs access to a child on the first level or vice versa. The tunnel gets smaller as a person travels through and the Manager reports that often Educators are bumping their heads or having other difficulties as they try to get to the area where the child may be. As the tunnel is part of the stairs that are the site of some injuries and incident reports, supervision and access of this area is critical.
- PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical
The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]
Observation. *A discussion was held with the Manager in regards to the sprinkler heads that are located throughout the outdoor play area. The earth has eroded away exposing them to the degree that they have become a tripping hazard. *The earth has eroded from around the edges of the cement walkways and curved retaining walls and very sharp cement edges are present throughout the entire playground. This presents the possibility of serious injury should a child trip and fall in the vicinity of any of these sharp edges. *Licensing observed a set of stairs next to the slide that have been built into the hill in an off-set manner. There are large, uneven gaps between the stairs and the slide as the earth has eroded from the mound over time. This item presents the possibility of injury and entrapment in it's current condition. *A wide/tall set of stairs at the bottom of the "tunnel" are positioned on a cement pad which has been the site of at least one reportable incident and poses the possibility of further head injury.
- RECORDS AND REPORTING / Records For Each ChildNon-critical
The licensee has written, parental consent to release a child to someone other than the parent. [CCLR Sec. 57(3)(b)]
Observation. *Licensing observed 2 of the children's files listed the parents as the sole emergency contacts.
- RECORDS AND REPORTING / Records For Each ChildNon-critical
The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]
Observation. *Licensing observed 8 of the children's records were missing care card information.
