    Behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of each child. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(a)]

    Observation. During the visit, Licensing Officer observed the licensee grab a child by the forearm to move them away from another child due to a conflict of sharing toys. Discussion took place with regards to the action of grabbing a child by the arm is an inappropriate way to re-direct the child. After the discussion, the action of grabbing the child's forearm and moving them away occurred again.

    Licensing has been notified immediately of any change in the information provided under Section 9 (Applying for a License). [CCLR Sec. 10(1)]

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed that the children's outdoor play space is no longer available for use. The space appears to be set up for the licensee's personal use for gardening. The Licensee's spouse stated that the facility uses the park or the school playground as an outdoor play space. Discussion took place with regards to any change of information provided under Section 9, (Applying for a Licence), Licensing is to be notified immediately. Licensing was not notified immediately with regards to the facility no longer using the back yard as an outdoor play space for the children in care or any plans to convert the space into a garden.

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. During the visit, the following was observed: -unsecured restrictors on all bi-fold doors posing a risk of harm to children in care -five unsecured shelving units containing heavy items in boxes are to be secured to prevent from falling or removed from the top of the shelf -above the fish tank unsecured items are stored on the glass shelving which poses a risk of harm to children in care -main classroom area appears to be cluttered with materials and equipment which is taking up useable floor space. Licensing recommends that the licensee declutter the activity area to create an open space for children to play and explore.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following,: - the Licensee did not following cleaning and sanitizing procedures prior to meal time. - no restrictor on a bifold door, which stored the washer and dryer - heavy items stored on shelving, to be secured to prevent from falling - an excess amount of materials and equipment stored in the main activity area, which reduces the amount of usable facility space for the children.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. As discussed during the inspection, there is a lot of clutter both inside and outside, including some items that are in disrepair. The clutter reduces the amount of space children have for playing and moving freely and also creates the potential for hazards.

    A record for each child containing any special instruction respecting the childs diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the childs care that is given by the childs parent to the licensee and agreed to by the licensee is not kept.     Observation. A child who has an epi-pen at the facility does not have a care plan. As discussed, the medication and the care plan must be available at the facility when the child is in attendance.

    All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

    Observation. The Criminal Record Checks for the Licensee and her husband have expired in February and March 2021. Information will be provided to the licensee on how to renew.
