A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. There are three tall shelves in the classroom and one tall cabinet in the bathroom that are not secured and can be a tipping hazard.
Corrective action. The manager will secure the shelves and cabinets.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Upon review of three staff records, one staff has one character reference.
Corrective action. The manager will acquire another reference and record it.

Corrective action. The Manager stated that the documents would be obtained this week.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. A total of 6 files were reviewed and 3 do not have photos of the child.
Corrective action. Please ensure photos are available for all children. Manager stated that some children are new and photos will be taken.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
Observation. One staff has an expired Early Childhood Educator certificate displayed..
Corrective action. Please ensure valid certificates are posted for all staff. Manager explained that a new certificate has been received but forgot to change it with the old one. Please ensure to validate the new certificate on the ECE Registry website.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following was observed inside the facility: -at the entrance of the facility inside, there is a small table where there were jackets, hoodies, toques, etc. all in a pile overlapping -one child had left their mask on the pile as well -there are also water bottles on the table and window sill behind the table -on the floor around the table there were several backpacks overlapping
Corrective action. Please implement a system where the children's belongings are stored separately and in a hygienic manner.
