- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Cabinet under the sink in the classroom was unlocked and cleaning supplies were accessible.
Corrective action. Staff said they will ensure cabinet is always locked.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Bathroom taps accessible to children were measured at 59.9 degrees Celsius.
Corrective action. Staff said they will keep the hot water turned off.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. No record of yearly evacuation drills.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. Care plans did not have the date they were created/reviewed.

- STAFFING
Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age).
Observation. Mixing of groups longer than 30 minutes (at the beginning and/or end of the day).
Corrective action. Manager explained they will be adjusting staff schedules to ensure that mixing of groups is no longer than 30 minutes at the beginning and end of the day.
12280 - CCLR s.34(4)(a) - STAFFING

Corrective action. Manager explained they will be adjusting staff schedules to ensure appropriate qualifications for supervision.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. A part of the chain link fence outside has detached from the post. There is piece of wood that is covering the gap, however it is secured with wire that is sharp and rusty and could cause injury.
Corrective action. Please ensure this fence is in good repair. Please make this area inaccessible to children.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Two staff who work at the facility occasionally did not have their certificates posted.
Corrective action. Please ensure that any staff who work at the facility and have a certificate issued by the ECE Registry, the certificate is posted.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. A total of 5 children's files were reviewed and one is missing a photo/digital image.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children have current photos in their files.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In the outdoor play area, a section of astro turf under the climber had lifted up and a large rusty nail that had held it down was exposed.
Corrective action. This nail was removed at the time of the inspection. There is a plan in place to address this issue.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
