    Observation. Licensing observed that the stairs leading to the entrance of the facility are slippery. Licensing provided suggestions on how the stairs can be slip resistant.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children; - Dirty mop, toilet bowl scrubber, two large dishwasher liquid bottles, and a cleaning spray solution bottle in the bathtub. - an adult rake/pick in the outdoor play area. - Two boards under the stairs in the outdoor play area.

    Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing measured the water temperature in the bathroom at 57 degrees Celsius. Licensing provided suggestions on how to ensure that the water temperature is no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area accessible to children; - A metal hand truck dolly on the cement area. - one can stick out of a plastic bag. - a big piece of plywood under the patio area. - one portable plastic planter that is cracked on one side exposing sharp edges under the patio area. - a small glass light under the patio area. Licensing received a written response from the Licensee that these items had been addressed. However, Licensing observed them to still be outstanding.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following accessible to children in care; Outdoor area; - A large wooden board and another small one resting against the shed. - Metal hand truck dolly on the cement area. - Two empty cans and pop bottle. - A big piece of plywood under the patio area. - One wet rug curled up on the ground and another wet mat on a chair under the patio area. - One portable plastic planter that is cracked on one side exposing sharp edges under the patio area. - A small glass light under the patio area. - A toothbrush on the cement area. - Open garbage bin with soiled diapers right outside the facility's entrance. Inside; - A small TV on a short entertainment shelf. Potential to fall on a child and injure them. Suggestions provided on how to secure the TV such as mounting it to the wall or placing it on unreachable shelf. -Toilet bowl scrubber right beside the toilet. - Airfreshner aerosol spray bottle in tub (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION). The Manager informed Licensing that renovations are happening in the upper level of the facility and that is why there are the items identified in the outdoor play area.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed three highchair trays, three plastic tables and a circular baby bouncer with dirt on them. Licensing also observed a couch that the children use that has a hole in it.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair while children are in care.

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is a diaper changing mat that is of cloth material and had a lot of lint on it. The Licensee informed Licensing that the changing mat is cleaned at the end of the day and not after every use. Licensing provided education that the diaper change mat should be of material that is easily cleaned and should be sanitized after each diaper change.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a program is established to instruct children in and to practice the rules of, health and hygiene.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is a child who has allergies and medication but no care plan in place showing the courses of action recommended by either the parent of health care professional. Licensing provided education on the intent of the regulation and the importance of having a care plan in place including clearly written courses of actions. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that each child requiring extra support has a care plan in place showing the courses of action recommended to address the needs of the child requiting extra support.
