Observation. Facility has not practiced emergency drill in the past few years. Discussion had with Licensee about using an emergency location that is away from the property where they can seek shelter. Discussion had about updating the emergency drill policy to indicate the emergency drill location.
Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before August 13, 2024

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed plastic garbage bags, bleach bottle and All purpose cleaning spray stored under the kitchen sink that were accessible to children.
Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided to children at all time and they do not have access to anything that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing staff observed the following; - The paint on the walls is chipping. -The outdoor play yard needs maintenance. Ground surface is uneven. There are patches on the grass area.

Observation. Review of 5 children files observed one child was missing a valid medical insurance plan. The copy of insurance plan on file indicated insurance policy expired in September 2021.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - Many areas in the entire facility where the wall paint has chipped, exposing the white underlay. - The table where the children sit down for lunch/snack has sticky grime/dirt underneath along the bottom edge of the table. Children touch the bottom edge area of the table when sitting down to eat and is unsanitary.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. Licensing measured the water temperature in the bathroom at 54.2 degrees Celsius. This is a repeat temperature.

Observation. Licensing observed that all the food in the emergency bag has expired and there is no water in the emergency bag.

Observation. The Licensee was unable to provide evidence (documentation) that fire drills were implemented for the months of September, October, November and December 2019. The Licensee informed Licensing that fire drills were implemented for these months.
