- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. In the designated nap room the plastic on all the children's sleep mats is torn in multiple places and therefore cannot be sanitized properly. Ensure this room is clear of clutter to ensure it is ready for children to nap in. In the outdoor play space there are gardening supplies, old metal garden fencing, a metal gutter, old wood pieces scattered throughout the yard.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that the above items would be addressed.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. The cleaning supplies are stored in the lower cabinet in the children's washroom and accessible to the children in care. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that the cupboard will be locked or the supplies would be moved to an alternate location.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. The fire extinguisher has not been serviced within the past year. Other that two small emergency packs for specific children prepared by the children's parents, there are no emergency supplies ready in the event the facility needs to evacuate.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that the above items would be addressed.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (e) any illness, allergy or medical disability disclosed to the licensee by the child or his or her parent or medical practitioner.
Observation. Licensing reviewed four children's files. One of these files contained no information on the child.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that all children's files would be complete by the end of the week.
19110 - CCLR s.57(2)(e) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Licensing reviewed four children's files. One of these files had no information available, two others did not have the child's immunization status and one did not have the child's medical insurance number.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that children's files would be complete by the end of the week.

19190 - CCLR s.57(3)(a) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that she would apply for the necessary criminal record check(s) immediately.

Observation. The smoke alarms were beeping during the inspection which indicates that the batteries may need to be replaced or there is another problem.
Corrective action. Please ensure all smoke alarms are in good working order.

Observation. A total of 5 children's files were reviewed and one is missing a dr's name and number.

Observation. One staff does not have a resume on file.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff working have a resume on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation. Both staff that work at the facility do have a certificate issued by the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Registry but they have not been validated yet.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff that hold a certificate issued by the ECE Registry has it validated.
