    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was noted at the time of inspection: -Rose bush with thorns accessible to children in care (repeat). -Lego container and plastic toys are stored on a shelf that can act as a topple hazard. Licensee removed heavy items at the time of inspection (repeat).

    Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before August 19, 2025

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was noted: -Items piled on high shelves can act as a tipping hazard (corrected during inspection) -Two thorny bushes, one in the right corner of the yard and one by the flowering plant to the left, accessible to children. -Some areas within the outdoor play space where the ground is uneven and can act as a tripping hazard.

    Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the items noted above on or before August 7, 2024.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following, in the outdoor play area that are accessible to children; - Two large wood panels resting against the wall with nails sticking out of them. - Couple of adult rakes and an adult shovel. - A container with a bag of snow salt.

    Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Upon a review of the fire and emergency drills for the year 2022 and 2023, Licensing observed that the fire drills for November and December 2023 were implemented however, not recorded.

    Corrective action. Ensure that records respecting fire and emergency drills are maintained.

    Observation. One of the toy house was more than 4 feet tall and posing a risk of injury if it falls on a child. It needs to be secured.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to provide a healthy and safe environment for all children while in care.

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. Licensing observed medicine that was provided by the parent. However there was no record of instructions given by parent regarding amount and time of the medicine.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to maintain a documentation or records of a child's medication administration plan.

    Observation. Licensing observed a tricycle's handle area all rusted and missing the rubber cover for the handle bars. The sharp edges of the handle bars are exposed. Potential hazard of a child cutting themselves.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed a highchair with a cushion cloth cover with many stains, grime and food particles on the buckle and seat cover. The Manager informed Licensing that they cannot take the cover off to wash it. Licensing informed the Manager how the cover can be removed. Licensing provided education on the importance of ensuring that all the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair to prevent the spread of germs.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair.
