  • C1.1 - Does the licensee continually inform licensing of any significant changes to the structure or operation of the facility?Critical

Observation. The name of the manager is not posted. Posting the manager's name ensures transparency and accountability in a licensed child care facility, making it clear who is responsible for overseeing operations and safety. Submit by March 6, 2026 confirmation that this has been addressed.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. The following required information is missing from the document used to record children's information: • Sex • Doctor name and contact information • Photo • Area to record of any person who is not permitted access to the child Maintaining accurate and complete child records is essential for ensuring a safe and responsive environment that promotes each child's health, development, and overall well-being. January 25, 2024Routine Inspection2 non-critical
  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

Observation. Licensing reviewed facility employee records and determined them to be incomplete. Some employee files were missing immunization information, first aid validation, character references checked by the employer, Responsible Adult education certificates, and evidence staff were orientated and trained in the implementation of emergency plans. All staff records were missing an original criminal record review clearance letter from the Criminal Record Review Program (CRRP) addressed to the facility. Organizations are not permitted to share copies. Sharing requests must be completed through the CRRP. RCMP checks are not acceptable for employees at a licensed child care facility. Any persons without a valid and current criminal record review clearance letter from the CRRP must not work with or have access to children in care. All required records for employees must be obtained by the employer prior to hiring. Licensing reviewed the non compliance with the Manager at the time of inspection and requested a detailed plan that includes a staffing schedule for the following week be submitted to Licensing demonstrating no later than 3pm on January 26, 2024.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. Licensing reviewed child records and found some required information missing. The applicable legislation was reviewed with the daycare coordinator at the time of inspection. Update child records for children currently registered and systems used to register future children to include copies of any repayment agreements if services are prepaid and information of any persons that may not have access to the child. Submit by the follow up date requested confirmation child records have been reviewed, updated, and the registration system was revised to ensure compliance is maintained.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

Observation. Staff files were reviewed during the inspection and found to be incomplete.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. Licensing reviewed the flooring (carpet) throughout the facility. There are multiple rips with carpet lifting that presents a tripping hazard. Temporary repairs have been done to address the risk over the years; however, the carpet is deteriorated and continues to present risks. In addition, in areas there is debris unable to be removed stuck in the carpet. While discussing the issue with the operator, Licensing was made aware there was previous approval in February to replace the flooring; however it was not completed. As the carpets are not regularly cleaned (steam cleaning), Licensing recommends when flooring is replaced to consider a flooring that is easier to maintain and clean. The follow up date reflects temporarily addressing any immediate risks and submitting to Licensing a plan for permanent solution with a timeframe for completion.
