  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. The equipment is clean and in good repair, the furniture is sturdy and the environment is clean. But there are a few areas of wear and tear - the area around the base of the urinals has exposed flooring that is worn and unable to be sanitized. There is also chips in the paint and exposed wood that is unable to be sanitized, the vent in the room has lifted in a few areas and could be taken out or moved by a child and as it is made out of metal, it could injure a child. It is also important to clean all items throughout the facility, such as step stools and any area touched by children.

  There is current log of minor incidents, illnesses and unexpected events, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H. [CCLR Sec. 56 (1)(f)]

  Observation. There is a log book available, but it is not used on a regular basis. Manager stated that some information is written on stickie notes, but these are not kept. The log book must be utilized for anything that is unexpected. This includes all information shared about a child or change in their typical day to day. The Log book is also a tool to support staff in recording any communication that is important for parents to know or that parents have shared. This is also for noting information around any incident that occurred, including follow up, even if it was not considered serious but staff had to share with parents.
