A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

Observation. LO observed that several children did not have immunization status on file.

Children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult. [CCLR Sec. 39(1)]

Observation. On arrival LO observed that the group were playing in the gym. Staff stated that they would be returning to their classrooms shortly for lunch. LO proceeded to the Middles room and observed 2 children sitting at a table while one was eating a snack. LO asked if there was a staff in the room and the children stated that there was not. LO asked if the staff knew that the children were in there, and the children stated that they knew. The children then left the classroom and returned to the gym. When brought to the staff's attention staff stated that the children had gone to the room to grab a snack, as they have a buddy system in place and this is something that they have been permitted to do. However, the staff were not aware that the children then remained in the room unsupervised instead of returning to the gym. It is required that children are supervised at all times, or if children are leaving the room as part of a buddy system, that staff are aware of where they are and when they should be expected to return.

The medications are not readily accessible to employees. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)(b)]

Observation. LO observed that children who were playing in the gym had EpiPens stored in First Aid bags that were left in the classroom. It is required that emergency medications are accessible to staff at all times.

Care plans are not reviewed at least once a year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent. [CCLR Sec. 58(2)(b)]

Observation. LO observed that 2 children had care plans on file which were developed in September 2022, and had not been updated.

The medications are not readily accessible to employees. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)(b)]

Observation. LOs observed an expired EpiPen for one child on site.

Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

Observation. LO observed a child that has asthma with an inhaler that expired April 2020.
