Observation. LO observed the following: • a foam bumper that was deteriorating and peeling from a wooden slide in one classroom • rubber baseboard is fastened to the wall with packing tape in one classroom

Observation. LO observed inflated balloons stored by the front entrance of the facility. In one classroom, LO observed toys stored in the children's washroom. In one classroom, LO observed foam edging on windowsills that has been picked apart, posing a choking hazard.

Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]
Observation. While there are care plans for children with allergies, two of them have not been updated annually, and there are two with Benadryl (which is not recommended by PHN as it can mask the sign of severe reactions and staff would have to make a judgment call when to use it).

Observation. Discussion with staff and Manager regarding ongoing maintenance required and how to track what is needed and what has been done. It was suggested that a log could be kept by staff when they note an issue or item that needs repair / replacement. Some things noted at todays inspection include: chipped paint, broken toilet paper holder, latch on storage in room, room door not closing, and cleaning supplies such as brooms/dust bins being stored in room.
