    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Notes from inspection visit October 30, 2023: LO observed inflated balloons stored by the front entrance of the facility. LO observed rubber tiles and equipment stored in one of the children's outdoor play areas. During today's visit LOs observed that inflated balloons have been removed from the front entrance area of the facility. Rubber tiles and equipment are still stored in one of the outdoor play areas. This issue remains in non-compliance.

    Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

    Observation. While there are care plans for children with allergies, two of them have not been updated annually, and there are two with Benadryl (which is not recommended by PHN as it can mask the sign of severe reactions and staff would have to make a judgment call when to use it).

    Observation. Discussion with staff and Manager regarding ongoing maintenance required and how to track what is needed and what has been done. It was suggested that a log could be kept by staff when they note an issue or item that needs repair / replacement. Some things noted at todays inspection include: chipped paint, broken toilet paper holder, latch on storage in room, room door not closing, and cleaning supplies such as brooms/dust bins being stored in room.
