Observation. Licensing observed sleeping mats are stored with bedding touching posing a risk of cross contamination.

Observation. LO observed: - the outdoor play equipment appeared to be in need of cleaning as some had visible dirt and debris accumulated on and around the various equipment. - a child was playing with a small toy with wheels when the wheels came off of the toy and appeared sharp. Staff immediately removed the toy from the outdoor play area.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. The facility is clean and in good order, but there are areas that are showing wear and tear that cannot be sanitized. Discussion with manager that there is a plan to do some painting over the summer, she will send a plan to LO

Observation. The Manager has a CRC that expired June 2024, and must also renew family members CRC to have on file.

Observation. Children's files were reviewed, with two having no emergency contact that is in addition to parent. It was also observed that attendance does not show Absent.

Observation. There is a substitute staff who has their CRC from a different employer, and no validation of ECE, no resume, no references and no status of immunization. There is also on staff who does not their updated ECE certificated validated.

For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]
Observation. There is a child with an allergy to nuts, while the registration form states that the only reaction is redness, there is also an Epi-pen supplied by the parents, but no medication permission form or care plan. On the child's registration form, there is a second area that says the child has no allergies - this may cause some confusion for staff. There is a second child who cannot have beans in the morning (due to conflict with medication), while there is no additional medication or follow up required, LO discussed the importance of ensuring all information supplied by parents is clear, and may include time or how many hours from arrival she cannot have beans, and what to do if beans were ingested.
