It is a requirement that each child file contains the information as required in Section 57-Records for each child of the Child Care Licensing Regulation. Submit to licensing on or before September 24, 2025, the plan you will implement to ensure child files contain the date the child stopped attending the facility.

Observation. One staff file did not contain evidence of complying with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Incomplete staff files may pose a risk to the health and safety of children. Submit to licensing on or before September 24, 2025, evidence that the missing documentation has been collected and is in the staff file.

Observation. The diaper change pad located in the washroom is in poor repair.

Observation. The facilities log of minor accidents, illness and unexpected events was unavailable at time of inspection. Three children did not have evidence of immunization status.

- C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical
Observation. The one employee record is missing character references, work history, immunization and certificate verification. It is reported that this employee has been substituting and working with children for a few years. The facility record shows that the licensee notified Licensing that this person was hired on a part time bases beginning November 7, 2019. This is a repeat contravention as the licensee had no employee record for a volunteer during a routine inspection on March 21, 2016. On November 7, 2019 and July 23, 2020 the licensee was sent an email from the previous facility Licensing Officer in which Section 19 was copied and pasted to the licensee. On May 8, 2017, Licensing Direct provided the relevant Sections (including Section 19) in follow up to the licensee’s inquiry about plans to hire an employee.

Observation. - One child record is missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. - Two children who began attending yesterday do not have a photo or digital image on record. - A child who meets the definition of a child requiring extra support does not have a care plan. Education regarding care plans was provided during the last routine inspection on August 26, 2021 according to the closing comments. - A child's immunization record could not be produced upon request. - The licensee's own two children have not been signed into todays attendance record. It is reported that at times, both the arrival and departure times are recorded at the end of the day for her own children rather than when the first child in care arrives. Attendance records are a repeat contravention. Attendance records were in non-compliance during the following inspection dates: October 1, 2015, March 21, 2016, June 22, 2016, December 15, 2017, and June 13, 2018. On each of these occasions, Licensing provided education along with various relevant resources.

Observation. - One electrical outlet prong in the main activity area is accessible. When this was brought to the licensee's attention, it was covered during inspection. - A pizza wheel cutter is accessible in a kitchen drawer. This is a repeat contravention that was noted in the most recent routine inspection conducted on August 26, 2021. - The hot water has been disconnected to the children's washroom faucet. The licensee states that the valve regulator quite working in mid July. The licensee has plans to install another regulator before the weather gets cooler to ensure that children have access to warm water for proper handwashing practices.

Observation. - An accessible electrical cord is hanging loose under the outdoor deck. - The refrigerator thermometer shows a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. This exceeds the safe food storage temperature of 0-4 degrees Celsius. - A pizza wheel cutter is accessible in a kitchen drawer. When this was brought to the licensee’s attention, it was moved out of children's reach with the other sharps. CDI

Observation. - The TV policy states that children's screen time will be limited to a maximum of an hour a day. The licensee indicates that they do not offer any screen time. The policy will be updated to reflect this change and to meet the allowable 30 minute limit per day from the Director of Licensing Standard of Practice- Active Play.
