  • A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing tested the hot water of all sinks used by children. The following were over 49 degrees Celsius: Room C bathroom, Room 2 bathroom, Room 3 bathroom and Pre K bathroom. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of persons in care and must be corrected immediately. While on site the hot water for all taps that measured over 49 degrees Celsius was turned off and stated it would not be turned on until Licensing could return to reassess. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.

    Corrective action. Ensure any heated water accessible to children is heated no higher than 49 degrees Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 10 of 17 staff files. Six staff did not have valid CRCs on file.

    Corrective action. Ensure not to employ a person without first obtaining valid CRCs.

    Corrective action. Ensure diaper change surfaces are located next to a washbasin.

Licensing observed the following staff to child ratios not being maintained: Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) Room 3, with 1 RA with 8 children, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) Room B, 8 children with 1 ECE and 1 ECEA, and Multi Age, Room 4, with 1 RA with three children. Additionally, it was disclosed that an ECEA has been doing school pick ups and off site school activities with the Multi Age children who are school aged.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending is no less than permitted in Schedule E.
