  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Modular soft play equipment is beginning to show visible wear. Some corners are fraying, and the finish is fading, which may affect the ability to clean the surfaces effectively. - An armchair in the classroom was observed to be stained and visibly dirty. Staff informed Licensing that the chair is steam-cleaned monthly and is visibly clean and stain-free afterward. Staff noted that there is an upcoming scheduled cleaning, and in the meantime, a washable cover will be used and remain on the chair. - One toilet in the bathroom is broken. Licensing was informed that a repair person is scheduled to fix it this week. - The bathroom is showing signs of dirt and water damage along the base of the sink cabinets. Staff confirmed that this wear is known to the facility and that repairs and cleaning are part of their annual maintenance plan. - The outdoor play structure has deteriorating wood on one stair step and a plank of wood detaching from the platform banister.

  Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A container of bleach was found in the bathroom in an area accessible to children. A discussion with staff occurred, and the bleach was relocated. Staff stated they will provide a lock for the fenced-off area, making it inaccessible to children. - An outdoor greenhouse was observed with a door that could be opened, allowing potential access. Inside, there were adult tools and a chemical spray bottle. Although the door was closed at the time, its location within the playground and the possibility of children entering means the hazardous items and substances inside are considered accessible to children.
