  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. There are foam floor mats in one of the main play rooms. These mats are torn making it difficult to adequately clean and sanitize. The gate at the bottom of the stairs past the washroom was not in place. This has been mentioned in a previous report.

  The licensee records compliance with the care plan of a child requiring extra support for all applicable aspects of care. [CCLR Sec. 58(3)]

  Observation. Licensing observed one child with anaphylaxis and asthma care plans on site. However, the staff agreed to give Benadryl when symptoms arise which did not follow the allergy emergency action plan instructions. As per the Anaphylaxis Care Plan, Epinephrine (Epi-Pen) is the first line of medication which should be used for the emergency management of a person having a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Benadryl should not be used instead of epinephrine for treating anaphylaxis. The Benadryl was observed expired 2022.

  Observation. Licensing observed multiple unsecured and accessible blind cords in the activity room. This poses a possible entanglement hazard.

  There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

  Observation. The fire extinguisher tags indicate that service was required by September 2022 and have consequently expired.
