(Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Certificate validation was not completed for an employee.

  Corrective action. Verification was completed while licensing was on site.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 staff files and noted the following: - A minimum of 3 references were not obtained for the manager - One staff had character references, however there was no evidence to indicate one was checked. The manager said it was checked, however was not documented.

  Corrective action. Ensure character references are obtained prior to employment.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

  Observation. Licensing noted the following: only two months of fire drills were available for review, and no records were available regarding the yearly emergency evacuation drill. The Manager stated fire and emergency drills are practiced, however, previous records were not available on site.

  Corrective action. Ensure records referred to in sections 56 to 58 are kept in a single place at the facility.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

  Observation. Upon discussion with the Manager, it was confirmed that minor incidences have occurred, however these incidences have not been documented in the log book.

  Corrective action. Ensure records are kept of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children.

  The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. 1 child requiring a care plan did not have one available.

  Corrective action. Ensure that each child requiring a care plan has one developed.

  Observation. Licensing noted the Manager's file did not have a resume or references available.
