A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Licensing noted there were no records of fire drills being completed for 2025. The licensee said they were practiced, however were not recorded.

Corrective action. Licensee said they will be recorded moving forward.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually

Corrective action. Licensee called to book servicing while licensing was on site and system has been developed to check expiry dates

Corrective action. Licensee will ensure date of enrolment is recorded for each child.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was Lysol on the counter in the bathroom accessible to children

Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Upon inspection there was no arrivals/departures listed for July 14th, a child was not signed in today and another child did not have their arrival time noted for today.

Corrective action. Please ensure each child has a record showing the daily attendance record indicating the time of arrival and departure

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Upon inspection there was a set of monkey bars attached to a swing set that had missing screws and some screws only partially screwed in.

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

Observation. Upon inspection, there was an uncovered garbage in the washroom, away from the change table with diapers in it.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a covered container for soiled diapers.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Criminal Record Check on file was done through the RCMP. Per Licensing requirements, the criminal record check needs to be conducted through the Criminal Record Review Program.

Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a criminal record check through the Criminal Record Review Program.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. Please ensure the immunization status is obtained for all employees.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Upon inspection, one or more staff did not have their certificate validated.

Corrective action. Please ensure all educators and assistants have their certificated verified by the Early Childhood Registry.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Children were not using single use towels to dry their hands after hand hygiene. The Licensee provided paper towels to dry children's hands while licensing was present.

Corrective action. Ensure single use towels are available for use at the facility.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Licensing reviewed 2 staff files and noted 1 was missing certificate verification.

Corrective action. Ensure educator and assistant certificates are verified using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood registry.

Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Licensing observed a volunteer on site with no record of character references.

Corrective action. Ensure character references are obtained prior to volunteering.
