    Observation. The complaint alleges that the facility's established policies and procedures specific to allergies and dismissal of children for bringing restricted food items, are not being consistently implemented or followed by staff. The specific policy is in the facility handbook which is provided to families and staff. - Based on the information gathered during this investigation including review of facility records, child records and discussion with the manager, the allegation has been substantiated. When facility policies are not followed, there may be an inconsistent standard of care. Ensure facility's policies and procedures are child-centered and are consistently and effectively implemented by all employees.

    Observation. Child records were reviewed. One child's immunization status was missing. The Licensee must have current information on each child's immunization status. Submit by October 31, 2025, confirmation that the missing information has been added to the child's records. The daily play space checks were reviewed. The play space checks for September and October were unavailable as a staff member had taken the clipboard home. Submit by October 31, 2025, confirmation that the daily play space checks are being completed, and the records are at the facility.

    Observation. An outdoor wooden picnic table and wooden sand box were found to be in poor repair which may pose a potential risk of splinters to children. Ensure facility equipment, furniture and supplies are in good repair and free from hazards. The picnic table was removed from the outdoor play space at the time of inspection.

    Observation. At the time of inspection, facility manager's name was not displayed in the facility. Ensure the name of the facility manager is displayed in a prominent place in the community care facility.

    Observation. At the time of the inspection, an employee's personal belongings were found accessible to children. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    Observation. C3.1C - Reg. 19 - A staff file was observed with an RCMP criminal record check and not one through the criminal records review program. Please complete the criminal records review program check. C3.1J - Reg. 22 - During the inspection staff were unaware of the emergency evacuation procedures if there was a community evacuation. Please ensure the policy is up to date and staff are aware of procedures.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. C7.1A - Reg. 13(1) - The refrigerator in the multi-age room did not have a means to ensure the temperature was appropriate for food storage. Note: Napping in the multi-age program was discussed as children under 36 months require a separate area away from the play area. Staff advised that play equipment/furniture is placed to provide a separate area and non-nappers are provided quiet activities at the table.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. C2.1B - Reg. 22(1)(b) - There is an emergency evacuation plan however it is not complete with community evacuation procedures. Please complete the plan and submit to licensing for review.
