    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A staff was observed not changing disposable gloves in between diaper changes.

    Observation. A detailed conversation with the staff indicated the 30 months to school age program does not have an ECE qualified staff from 4:00-4:30 PM and one of Under 36 Months programs does not have an Infant/Toddler qualified staff from 7:30 to 8:00. The staff describe all three programs as operational independently in the morning and afternoon.

    Corrective action. Licensing and staff discussed schedule E in detail including the requirements if the care programs combine in the first and last half hour of facility operation.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. It was observed that there was Benedryl in the medication container. When asked the staff were unsure who it belonged to and stated it was for emergencies.

    Corrective action. Ensure that any medications are labeled and administered in the amount and at times specified by the child's parent.

    Observation. There were 3 staff on site, however one staff did not meet qualification requirements as there is no valid ECE Assistant Certificate from the ECE Registry. Records indicate an application has been submitted to the ECE Registry.

    Corrective action. As discussed, please ensure all staff employed meet qualification requirements at time of employment or have an approved exemption in place for the staff plan.
