Observation. A person who is over the age of 12 and ordinarily on-site does not have a current criminal record check.
Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure to obtain a criminal record check for any person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present on-site.
12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. Staff records were not available on-site.
Corrective action. Licensee will ensure that records will be kept on-site within the community care facility.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The outdoor play area has a sloped area and is muddy and slippery, there is also water that is puddling in parts of the outdoor play space and areas where the children come off the slide. The slippery areas and the puddling water poses the risk of injury to children.
Corrective action. Please ensure the outdoor play area is healthy and safe for the children in care. Provide licensing with a plan of how this will be addressed.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following was observed: -children's scissors were observed on a planter in the back garden accessible to all children. -there were multiple hoses across all areas of the grass and cement walkway poses a tripping hazard. - the carpet at the top of the outside stairs is curled and poses a tripping hazard. -Although there was a covered container for soiled clothing, the soiled diapers were located in the bathtub accessible to children.
Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The baseboard heaters were observed in poor repair with sharp edges exposed to children. The Licensee said the pieces missing were in the storage cupboard. The main carpet is frayed along the edge to kitchen.
Corrective action. Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good repair.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. The diaper change area is located directly beside the washroom. At the time of inspection it was observed that the door to the bathroom was closed during a diaper change and the Licensee had to open the door prior to washing her hands. It was discussed that the hand washing area needs to be unobstructed during the diaper change.
Corrective action. Ensure that the hand washing sink is unobstructed during the diapering procedure.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed that the food in the emergency evacuation kit expired in 2018.
Corrective action. Ensure that the food for an emergency evacuation kit is current. Please provide a written response outlining your system of checking to ensure food is not expired.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.
Observation. A review of the Screen time Policy stated that children will have no screen time. At time of arrival the children were watching something on an ipad. The Licensee confirmed that children are also provided screen time at nap time for the children who don't sleep.
Corrective action. Ensure that policies are implemented.
13071 - CCLR s.56(2) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. The Licensee stated that an emergency drill was completed within the last year but could not provide a written record.
Corrective action. Ensure that a written record respecting compliance is current.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 2 of 6 files reviewed did not contain the name or telephone number of an emergency contact
Corrective action. Ensure that all children had a record showing the name and telephone number of an emergency contact.

Observation. The Licensee was unable to provide any employee files.
Corrective action. Ensure that all employee files are kept in a single place at the community care facility.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. 1 of 6 files reviewed did not have immunization status. 2 of 6 files reviewed did not have a medical insurance plan number.
Corrective action. Ensure that each child has a record of medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. The Licensee's first aid certificate expired in June 2020. The Licensee stated she has taken another course but was unable to provide any evidence of completion.
Corrective action. Ensure that children have access to an employee who holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate.
12210 - CCLR s.23(1)(a) - STAFFING

Observation. One person living in the home over the age of 12 did not have a criminal record check.
Corrective action. Ensure that each person over the age of 12 that is ordinarily present on the premises has a current Criminal Record Check.
